Rutgers University Press wurde 1936 gegründet und verlegt wissenschaftliche Werke für Wissenschaftler, Studenten und interessierte Leser. Seit seiner Gründung veröffentlicht der Verlag Werke aus den Bereichen Bürgerkriegsgeschichte und Europäische Geschichte, hinzu kommen Publikationen in Soziologie, Anthropologie, Gesundheitspolitik, Menschenrechte, Urban Studies und anderen Fachgebieten.
